Jen Lee

"The one class I took was Storyweaving with Jen Lee. Let me tell you this was hands down the best writing class I have ever taken. This includes all of my undergrad and graduate classes. . . . I think she would make an amazing professor." --Thea Coughlin

"I found Jen to be an excellent instructor - she has the ability to put us at ease and help us feel comfortable with the whole process. Also, she is sensitive and well-tuned to the needs of the students in the class."--Andrew Borloz

"I've never been much of a journaler or a diarist -- and I say this, even as I've maintained a personal blog for 5-1/2 years!  Still, the thought of putting my "deepest, darkest secrets" in handwritten form didn't feel particularly authentic for me -- mostly because I didn't feel like I had that many deep dark secrets, and creating them or digging for some that I didn't believe were there felt dishonest.

"But then, a conversation with my friend, Jen Lee, made me realize that I was over-thinking the process -- that journaling isn't about recording your deepest, darkest secrets, but about simply recording your messy, colourful, vibrant life.  That it wasn't important, or even desirable to be the next Anne Frank -- it was good just to let your essence appear on the paper.  She taught me that it was okay that daily stream-of-consciousness thoughts hastily scribbled in the morning can be interspersed with to-do lists, grocery lists, phone numbers, doodles and any other ephemera of the day.

"What has resulted are my beautiful, messy, relevant, imperative journals -- books that now hold a record of my busy, kaleidoscopic life.  I've been journaling this way for about 2 months now, and I'm far more organized and focused about myself and my goals.  Without any exaggeration, that conversation with Jen Lee changed my life.  I feel like journaling this way is what I've been missing in working towards what I want in my life, and now, I can't imagine *not* journaling."--Karen Walrond, Chookoolonks
